Featured Article: Whole-genome characterization of common rotavirus strains circulating in Vellore, India from 2002 to 2017: emergence of non-classical genomic constellations

This study by Khakha et al. characterized the common circulating rotavirus strains in India to understand rotavirus strain diversity and evolution using Whole genome sequencing (WGS) carried out on Illumina MiSeq.

Featured Article: Metagenomics revealed a correlation of gut phageome with autism spectrum disorder

In this research paper, Shahin et al. analyzed a public microbiota database of ASD and typically developing (TD) Chinese individuals for phage protein-coding units (pPCU) to explore a potential link between the phageome and autism spectrum disorder.

Short Reports

Aims and scope

Gut Pathogens publishes research on both biological and clinical aspects of the pathogens of the gut. Studies on commensals and functional microbiota of the gut, including probiotic bacteria should be essentially in the context of infection, immunity, treatment, control or epidemiology of the enteropathogenic bacteria and other pathogens of the gut including viruses and fungi. The journal also considers timely reports on the novel aspects of genomics, metagenomics, microbiota profiling and systems biology with reference to enteric infections and pathogen evolution or fitness traits such as the antimicrobial resistance.
